MAgnolia Cemetery

Magnolia Cemetery has served as Hartsville’s main municipality cemetery since the late1800s. The cemetery was founded in 1917 and sits on a beautiful 23-acres not far from the downtown area. The old section of the cemetery features many elegantly crafted monuments from the early to mid 20th century - primarily designed and built by Brown Memorials, which was founded in Hartsville in 1908. As other monument companies popped up in later years, the quality of monument work began to wane; however, there are still a handful of expertly designed and crafted headstones in the newer sections of the cemetery. Most of the cemetery features upright monuments and headstones, but there is also a vast flat bronze section. To date, the cemetery holds over 6,300 burials.

Darlington Memory Gardens

Darlington Memory Gardens is a large, primarily flat bronze cemetery located about half way between Darlington and Hartsville and serving both communities. While the majority of the cemetery requires memorials to be made of flat bronze, the cemetery does feature a small upright headstone garden and two large community mausoleums. Darlington Memory Gardens is a perpetual care cemetery owned and operated by Hines Funeral Home.

Westview Memorial park

Westview Memorial Park was founded by our 3rd generation, Bill Brown, in the mid-20th century. Even though most of the monuments here were produced a relatively small budget, Bill Brown promoted a high level of artistic design which can be seen in many of the headstones made from the 1960s -1990s. Westview Memorial Park features a small veterans section, of which the centerpiece by Bill Brown received a national design award for its creativity and symbolism. The cemetery is primarily comprised of upright headstones, but also features a walk-in mausoleum and flat section. The cemetery is now owned and operated by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home in Hartsville.
